New Town Hall Lansingerland
Total gross floor surface 17.796 m2
Commissioned by Municipality of Lansingerland
Three rural communities north of Rotterdam merged in 2007 to become the municipality of Lansingerland. A new town hall and municipal offices was commissioned. In keeping with its environment this became a country house on an estate.
A transparent government building is surrounded by fruit trees that
blossom in springtime. Public, and accessible for everyone who participates
in the local democracy, gets married or wants to register a birth. The
slightly sloping drive to the entrance is flanked on the right by municipal
offices situated on a finger of land encircled by water. Parked cars
disappear from sight.
