Zeverijn Hilversum
Housing estate De Zeverijn is located on the outskirts of Hilversum in The Netherlands. Entering Hilversum from the West, the two distinctive buildings with 8 and 12 floors are eye catchers and characteristic of this part of Hilversum.
The two apartment buildings with a total of 216 apartments were built in 1966. As with many housing estates from this period, residents like to live there because their apartments are spacious and have beautiful views. However, the installations are not energy efficient and the facade insulation is very moderate. Also, the appearance of the overall complex, the entrance of the buildings and the layout of the immediate surroundings can be improved, which will enhance the comfort of living and the sense of safety. These were all reasons for housing corporation ‘de Alliantie’ to give the complex a thorough upgrade.
The upgrading concerns the basic maintenance, supplemented with measures to reduce energy consumption. A newly furnished entrance area provides better accessibility and attractive reception at the complex. By replacing the balcony and gallery balustrades and staircase façades, the apartment buildings get a contemporary appearance. Thanks to this combination of measures, the complex will appear be more coherent as a whole, which will enable its residents to be proud again in the near future to live in De Zeverijn.
