Guggenheim Museum Helsinki
An icon in the port of Helsinki. The most iconic volume for a functional building is a cube. A cube is also an efficient volume for a flexible and sustainable building.
The new building is situated in the heart of the port, easily recognizable for all visitors that approach the museum from the centre of the city, and clearly visible for all ships that enter the harbour.
The architecture, aim for a considerate perfection. On the outside the museum is an easily recognizable cube, on the inside it is a very spacious and varied museum. The museum can be a very active and lively building that shows its activities to the city of Helsinki every day in different ways. People can clearly see that there is always something happening in the museum and will get curious to know what the museum has to offer. Helsinki deserves a top-quality museum with a timeless, subdued design.
