Slachthuis Haarlem, building permit obtained
Monuments Abattoir Haarlem
The building permits for the monumental buildings on the abattoir complex in Haarlem have been granted!
Abattoir
The former abattoir from 1907 is cherished and carefully restored. New facade openings and large skylights provide plenty of daylight in the industrial building.
After the renovation, the abattoir will offer space for a varied program of public functions that ensure a lively neighbourhood. There is space for two restaurants/café’s with terrace, a gym, office spaces and meeting facilities for various companies.
The water tower - formerly used for the storage of cooling water - will be made accessible and will be used as a meeting room on the top floor with fantastic panoramic views over Haarlem and a new roof terrace.
Director’s office and residence
Originally built as an executive office and residence for the director, the stately historic villa will be converted into seven spacious apartments. The two beautiful stairwells, which used to provide access to the management office and the director's residence, are being restored and provide access to the homes. The future residents can enjoy the monumental atmosphere of the entrance with its terrazzo floor and tiled walls. The facades and the roof will be repaired and preserved.
Canteen building
The former canteen and administration building is being restored and transformed into a residential building with six apartments.
Popcenter
The popcenter in the main building was the first phase in the construction process. Since the beginning of 2023, a pop music school has opened its doors and rehearsal rooms for bands are rented out.
