ir. Leon Broeren Architect / Project manager
Making designs feasible and tangible — that is my core business. What makes designing even better is that not everything is fixed. Within the confines you can search for openings, research, discuss, and then arrive at a design solution that works on all scores. In the case of the Hermitage we all worked together to produce a Gesamtkunstwerk. The spatial experience, the distribution of forces, the movement towards the light, the regulation of the light, the security, the lecture theatre, the stairs, the pantries, the detailing of the façades: everything is in harmony. The result is that you visit the Hermitage not only for the works of art but also for the building itself, the experience, which starts as soon as you pass through the Ossepoort from the Amstel side.
Graduated as an architect from the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology in 2006.
