Holland Bridge
Hans van Heeswijk Architects was selected in 2009 as one of the three finalists for the competition "Uitbreiding Hollandse Brug" at the A6 over the Gooimeer between Naarden en Almere. The design is made possible through a collaboration between Hans van Heeswijk Architects, consulting engineers ABT and Oranjewoud.
The brief was to double the capacity of the existing bridge by creating an additional bridge as a special landmark. The design is based on a biplane principle. The new bridge is being placed over the existing bridge. This is a new and unique structure for Holland.
