Pius Harbour Bridge
A bridge like a beautifully constructed and intriguing working instrument, that was the most important criterion for the design of this bridge. Not a prominent or out sticking structure, but a refined and innovative urban object.
The structure is a drawbridge hinged on pins with a counterweight to facilitate raising. To keep construction economical, all parts of the bridge are above waterlevel. The two main visual parts of the bridge are the main beam and the counterweitght. They will be constructed out of polished stainless steel. For safety traffic reasons the bridge has two separated decks.
